Coding Weekly AI News

January 5 - January 13, 2026

Coding and AI agents are changing very fast this week. Companies are making new tools that help people write code with artificial intelligence. Claude Code released a big update on January 7 that makes it better at helping programmers. Many different AI models are now working together to help coders do their jobs. One famous AI expert named Geoffrey Hinton said that AI can now write code for projects that take about one hour, and in a few years it might handle projects that take months. Another expert named Simon Willison thinks that very soon, everyone will agree that AI writes good code, even people who don't believe it now. However, there is a big worry about safety. Running AI code helpers without protection could be dangerous, like when computers get viruses. People are also working hard to make sure AI code stays safe and protected. This is an exciting time for coding with AI agents, but we need to be careful about security.
