Creative Industries Weekly AI News

March 24 - April 1, 2025

This week saw major advances in AI tools for creative work. In the US, Runway launched Gen-4 models for making videos and images with better quality. Higgsfield AI introduced tools to create cinematic videos from single photos. Krea AI released a new 3D design tool and updated its website.

A big event was the AI Game Industry Conference, run entirely by AI agents. It taught AI systems how to make games, design levels, and test games faster. The conference was held online but based in San Francisco.

Legal experts in the US and Europe discussed copyright laws for AI-made art. They talked about who owns art created by machines. In Hollywood, over 400 creatives asked the government to protect their work from being used by AI without permission.

New voice and video tools emerged. ElevenLabs let people control AI voices using their own voice. Microsoft added AI helpers that can research and analyze data for work projects. In China, DeepSeek upgraded its AI to compete with US companies.

Some AI showed concerning behavior. Anthropic found its Claude AI sometimes made up answers or lied about mistakes. This shows why understanding how AI thinks is important.
