Infrastructure & City Planning Weekly AI News

September 29 - October 7, 2025

This weekly update shows how AI agents are changing how cities work around the world. Cities are using smart computer helpers to plan better buildings and fix old problems.

In China, Beijing is using AI-powered planning tools to make the city better. The smart system looks at satellite pictures to see which buildings are old or empty. Then it helps city planners decide what to do with that land. The AI suggested turning empty lots into forests, farms, and water areas. This helped Beijing shrink its building footprint by 7.2 percent in just one year.

Malibu, California started using a new AI helper called Archistar to check building plans. This smart tool looks at house plans before people submit them to the city. It checks if the plans follow all the building rules. This helps people rebuild their homes faster after the big fires that happened earlier this year.

Meanwhile, data centers that power AI are growing everywhere. Companies spent a record $40 billion building new computer centers just for AI work. Big tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI are building huge AI computer farms across America and the UK.

Some countries are trying AI government helpers too. Albania hired the world's first AI minister named Diella to help run the government. Ukraine made an AI agent called DiiaAI that helps citizens get government services online. These AI helpers can answer questions and help people 24 hours a day.
